It was a day like never before on Wednesday, 8 April, 2015 when Dame Patience Jonathan visited Okirika, Rivers State.
The reception was arousing. It felt like someone had set fire to a gas station.
The last time ‘Mama Peace’ as the First Lady is fondly called, visited the state was during the March 28 Presidential elections. However, upon her recent arrival, she was welcomed with a massive gathering, a gesture that attracted surprising remarks from the her.
According to Patience, the turnout was an evidence that the people love and hold her in esteem. She went on to express gratitude for the support she and President Goodluck have enjoyed through the current administration.
One of the indegenes at the reception ground described Patience Jonathan as the voice of the Okrika people.
“The First Lady is the voice of the Okirika people who has fought for their cause and whom they owe a debt of gratitude.”
