Govenor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has acknowledged the contributions of the state House of Assembly to the success of his administration.
He stated this when the State Lawmakers led by the Speaker, Barrister Onofiok Luke, called on him in a solidarity visit at Government House, Uyo.
Gov Emmanuel noted with delight the existing harmony between the Executive and the Legislature and particularly appreciated the bond of comradeship among the lawmakers urging them to sustain their friendly disposition.
The Governor assured the lawmakers of his commitment to deliver on the planned programmes of the administration, stressing that there is no time to delay.
He solicited quality laws that would aid in the development of the state sued for a speedy passage of the appropriation bill and advised them not to compromise their oversight responsibility but to ensure quality delivery of the superlative performance.
The State Governor observed that the Supreme Court judgment has saved the state unnecessary rancour, acrimony and bloodshed and enjoined the opponents to invest their resources in viable economic venture for the benefit of the people.
He said he will welcome ideas that would facilitate the development of the state and thanked the lawmakers for their demonstration of love, pledging to work with them.
Earlier the Speaker State House of Assembly, Rt. (Hon) Onofiok Luke, said the visit was to share in the joy of what God has done for the state and assured the Governor of their unflinching support to enable him succeed in the development of the state.
He used the occasion to express apprection to the Nigerian Judiciary for not allowing sentiments to becloud their sense of judgement and particularly extolled President Mohamadu Buhari for upholding the tenets of the rule of law and his integrity to save Nigeria from economic devastation.
He noted that the verdict has brought power back to the people and thanked the Governor being the change agent as he reached out to appreciate the people whose crest came the mandate.
