The Abia State Governor, Mr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has frowned at the incessant attacks and killing by the Fulani herdsmen in the country, and the President Muhammadu Buhari policy to provide grazing lands for the herdsmen in all the state.
Gov. Ikpeazu said that the Abia State government will not provide grazing land for the Fulani herdsmen.
In his words, he said: “Such a policy won’t work here because we don’t have enough lands for ourselves. If they want to establish such things, they should do so in the North, where they have several free lands.
“What we advocate is the establishment of ranches across our state to be owned and managed by our own people, not outsiders. That way, there will be no clashes and no frictions.
“Why do I want to wait for someone to trek down from Maiduguri before I can eat meat?”
It could be recalled that the herdsmen had evaded Enugu and Taraba States, wasting lives and properties.
