The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has called on Christians to remain committed to the service of God, saying such commitment takes away adversities and attract divine blessing for man to flourish in his endeavours.
Governor Emmanuel made the call at Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Ekpene Road Uyo where he, in company of his wife, Martha, attended the Church Service marking the end of 2016 Akwa Ibom Prayer Convention and forty days Prayer and fasting.
The Governor who commended the Church for setting aside forty days of every year to pray for the peace and progress of the State read from Proverbs 23 verse 18 assured that there is an end to every adversity and that the expectation of man shall never be cut off. He sued for absolute trust in God from the people.
He advised the people to identify with religious gatherings and render services to God explaining that such services brings about God’s manifestation to man and donated uniform to the ushers.
Earlier, the Resident Pastor Reverend Ibub Imah who preached on the theme Hannah’s Testimony, said Hannah encountered God miraculously thereby making impossibility to become a possibility.
The Cleric who culled his sermon from 1st Samuel 2 verse 10, said Hannah was despised and mocked over her inability to conceive but her devotion to prayers at the end of the Shiloh served her the embarrassment as she brought forth Samuel who became Priest and a medium of blessing to many nations
Reverend Emah admonished the people not to fight back when they are faced with reproach explaining that Hannah paid no attention to mockery from her co Wife, Peninah and that waiting on the Lord is not a wast of time.
Speaking on the efficacy of prayers he emphasised that God has used the forty days prayers and fasting to bless the people.
At the service, the Minister in charge Aba Area Conference of Qua Iboe Church, Reverend B. U. Akpan rendered prayers for the breaking of the forty days fasting and dedicated an 18-seater Bus purchased for the Church Evangelism.
Also, people born in the month of June were celebrated with the cutting of a birthday cake as supervised by the Governor and his Wife, Martha.
