The Akwa Ibom State Government, in its repositioning determination for the booming industrialisation that is approaching the state, has assured the people of Oron, Uruan, Nsit Atai and other local government areas that the 29km Uyo–Oron–East West Road project, which was revoked due to the inability of the construction to commence work ten months after the contract was awarded, would be re-awarded within 39 days.

Speaking with journalists in his office, the Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang, pleaded with indigenes of the affected roads to be patience as Government was doing everything within its capacity to re-award the project in 30 days to a construction firm that would deliver it within a stipulated time.

The Commissioner said, the 29km Dualize Uyo – Oron – East West Road would be reawarded to a five star firm that is capable of delivering the project.

He said government was not impressed with the state of works the contractor exhibited at the site, noting that, the central interest of Governor Udom Emmanuel is to develop Akwa Ibom for the betterment of all.

He assured that Governor Udom Emmanuel cannot abandon the road, as it is a prime project of the administration.

The State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, on Sunday, announced the termination of the contract earlier awarded Renaissance Construction Company as the contractor was unable to start work on the site.
