A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at Shawa village in Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Pastor Luka Ubangari, has been allegedly killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.
He was reportedly ambushed and shot to death while returning from an evangelical visit to Golkofa village on Sunday.
The incident occurred few days after Governor Nasir El-Rufai condemned incessant herdsmen killings during a visit to the area, describing it as ‘senseless’ and promised to arrest the perpetrators.
A source, who craved anonymity, noted that despite the governor’s promises, the herdsmen “who are out to remove us from our ancestral lands, continue to kill our people.”
“We were happy that the Governor (Nasir El-Rufai) had visited and assured us of improved security and that the killers would be found and punished.
“To our shock, Pastor Luka Ubangari was ambushed, shot and killed as he was riding his motorcycle after an evangelical visit to Golkofa.”
It could be recalled that a pastor’s wife with RCCG was reportedly attacked and killed by suspected herdsmen while evangelising in Abuja.
