A sociopolitical organization in Akwa Ibom State, Sisters of Udom Emmanuel (SUE), has said that the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, is operating a people friendly government.

Speaking through its Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Mrs Aidy Thomas, while addressing the people during a meeting with the Mandate Preservation Group (MPG) at the weekend at the campaign office in Uyo, said it is a vision and a dream come true for the two groups to come together as one big family.

“This is to show that we are charting the same cause, aiming at the same destination, to show that we have the same leader, to show that we have the same head, and to show that we have the same vision.”

Explaining the purpose of the gathering despite the fact that campaign has come and gone, Mrs. Thomas noted that “This government is not a government whereby people are not being remembered after campaign.

“It is a government of the people, by the people, for the people, with the people, and going to the people. So it is People-oriented government.”

The Mandate Preservation Group’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Mr. Ekerete Emmanuel, in his address, said: Politics is not all about the governor alone. The governor has tentacles. We are setting the governor’s extension so that the Governor, through us, can reach out to the people.

“In Commercial Law, it is quoted that he who does something through some other persons does it himself. The governor is a single person. Even when Jesus Christ was on earth, He could not reach out to everyone physically that was why He decided to go so He would send the Holy Spirit (Comforter).

“That was why we set up the group to assist the Governor in reaching out to the grassroots.

“It is more difficult to preserve something than to invent it. All that requires is a common goal.”

Also in attendance was Mr Gabriel Nkanang, the leader of the great Nkanang family and executive members of SUE and MPG.
