AKSG Sets Up Scholarship Board To Assist Students

fb_img_1480528107621Akwa Ibom State Government has announced plans to set up a Scholarship Board to assist brilliant indigent students undertake their academic programmes to the level of their choice.

Governor Emmanuel stated this at a Thanksgiving service to commemorate the first year in office of Professor Enefiok Essien as the fifth Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo held at the Institution’s Mini Stadium, Town Campus, Uyo.

He stated that the new scheme would promote effective learning and encourage students to be focused on their studies saying “We will not let your star dim” and cautioned them against indulgence in vices that would jeopodise their future.

The Governor maintained that his administration is committed to stamping out unemployment through his policy of industrialization under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.

According to him, “The best thing to do for democracy is to lay an economic foundation, and we want to create a world where you have an option either in the Public Service or Private Sector” adding “we will continued to unfold these areas so that when you come out you have where to work”.

Governor Emmanuel congratulated the celebrant for attaining such feat in his career and urged him to maintain his vision to enable him discharge his duties efficiently and ensure that students of the University have enabling environment to study and achieve their dreams..

The Governor also tasked him to establish a process where students results are released within two weeks of completing their examinations and assured that the State Government would continue to support the Institution to enable it achieve it set goals.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Enefiok Essien, thanked God for his benevolence and attributed his success to God’s divine favour.

Highpoint of the event which had in attendance the First Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Fola Lasisi, dignitaries from all walks of life and members of the University Community, was the presentation of the Book titled Essays In Honour of Professor Enefiok Essien.
